it’s the final final countdown
well fine friends, i’m gonna make this is short and meh.
- school has started.
- welcome-back parking is a jerk.
- this is my LAAAST year of any type of schooling.
- i’ve attended all of my classes.
- they seem a-ok.
- i have to do many a research project.
- i’m probably gonna drop a class…it’s an elective, take it easy.
- i know exactly what’s gonna go down after graduation.
**for those of you who don’t really care about anything else related to the intricate details of my classes, you don’t have to read any further. just skip ahead to the asterisks**
let’s begin with my undergrad-but-it’s-counting-as-a-grad-class class:
Digital PR & Advertising— i had this professor last semester for a legitimate grad class and he gave 2 classmates and myself the go ahead for taking the class this semester. so first day, we go through the syllabus, there are assignments for signing up for an email newsletter/emailing list thing, 3 blog assignments about how a particular company utilizes social media, 2 exams, and a research paper. it made me miss undergrad, sooo not joking, it sounded fun. so after class, he gathered the grad students that snuck into the class and said you don’t have to do anything but the 2 exams and research paper. ummm…ok! but the other assignments are extra credit i think. sooo one blog may be posted. i’m kinda excited about it…don’t judge me.
Human Relations in Organizations— probably gonna be one of my favorite professors just because of his personality. he’s a little quirky old korean man named jae. he built in time for gossiping at the end of class. like, it was on the syllabus. the class is basically about relationships within a company/organization…like the title says. should be interesting. he also made us play the name game to introduce everyone/embed everyone’s name into our minds. it consisted of your name and something fun you did over the summer. but you had to repeat every person’s name/activity before adding yours to the list. learned a lot of things about everyone. the last contributor is an english-is-my-second-language student, so that was kinda funny/made you say “bless his heart.”
Applied Research Techniques: Qualitative Methods— probably another fave professor…pretty sure this is a solid line up of faves/potential faves. she’s really understanding and you can tell that she really wants you to succeed inside and outside of the classroom. this is probably gonna take the most time since i essentially have to conduct a mini-research project. what is a qualitative method? i would say it’s the hippie sibling of quantitative methods. yooouuu seee, quantitative methods is all about statistics and using computer programs for data input/output to find number patterns and it gives me headaches. qualitative is like oooh, let’s go observe, take notes, code details about verbal/physical patterns, and chit chat with a participant aka interview. again, i’m kinda excited about it…don’t judge me.
now on to the honorable mention/class i’m dropping:
PR Management— i have nothing against this class, it just requires additional knowledge i lack. like what? writing a press release. no clue. they recommend taking a “leveling” class, an undergrad class that doesn’t count towards your degree but provides the foundation for future classes, in conjunction with it. soo now i’m like uhhh, i don’t have time/don’t want to cry everyday for an elective course. nothing against the professor, because i’ve heard rave reviews about her from just about everyone that’s had her. so yeah. PR, ya just ain’t fo me.
**…and that’s how i found out i was related to abraham lincoln…oh, welcome back those of you who skipped ahead**
classes should be entertaining.
in my undergrad/grad class we watched these youtube vids of people reacting to the earthquake. some are kinda funny. here’s my fave one. watch until :35! after that it’s like meh.
ALSO, did you know that youtube has a blog for what’s trending on youtube? i didn’t! it’s pretty cool! here’s the link. check it out, yo.
the glee movie fiasco will have to wait til the next post…it’s a doozy.
happy trails to you.
